North East Derbyshire District Council
Background
North East Derbyshire District Council like the majority of councils around the country has the responsibility for repair and maintenance of the all its housing stock within its remit, and uses a variety of materials and plant to help it prioritise its maintenance schemes. The Repairs and Maintenance Division own a large fleet of plant and tools in order to facilitate this maintenance work.
The Issue
Tracking the equipment had always been done manually within the division, but there had been no proper method of identifying which operative had what item of plant and tools and what section of the repairs and maintenance division had them.
When Mike Hubbard took his position as Planning and Procurement Manager, it was clear that a proper format of control was required. The main stumbling block was ascertaining where all the equipment was located, and forming a complete list as a starting point for the new tool and plant store. The next stage was finding a management package to control their 'hire and return' system giving them full control of their assets.
The Solution
NE Derbyshire District Council chose the inspHire Express rental management solution.
“inspHire met our needs very well and the level of investment for our level of use was very reasonable. inspHire Express has proved to be an excellent way of providing control. We can use it to recall plant for annual or other periodic testing, and we can produce a plant history should any tools be found to have been either misused or not had defects reported.”
Mike Hubbard, Planning and Procurement Manager, North East Derbyshire County Council.
