Background 
Shift 4 Ltd. is one of the leading location camera equipment and crewing suppliers in London and continues to build on its success since it was founded back in 1988.
It now stocks one of the largest ranges of digital broadcast cameras and accessories available, and is one of the few companies to operate from two UK branches, for the benefit of it’s regional customers and for wider production support.
The Issue
Shift 4 had had a computer network for quite a considerable time but all the information needed for the business was across a multitude of software programs such as Access, Works, Excel, Word etc. none of which were linked together. The checking and tracking of equipment was by hand filled forms and many similar processes had to be repeated to create a final invoice.
The growth of the business and the amount of equipment presently stocked meant Shift 4 could no longer work with such an inefficient manual system where they were replicating work unnecessarily e.g. typing job sheets, typing invoices and then entering invoices on SAGE. Keeping an accurate track of so much equipment and its availability became virtually impossible.
When Shift 4 decided to look for another rental management system, they wanted the following criteria:
- Software that would work with SAGE & Microsoft products
- Software that was stable, reliable & flexible
- Good technical back-up and support
- Value for money
The Solution
