inspHire Software - Hardware and System Requirements

If you need us to talk to your IT department or IT provider about any of the following points, then please put them in touch with us directly.

The inspHire Software requires an initial installation and setup onto a computer system that will host the data used by the inspHire system(s), along with shared files/documents. This machine would be acting as a “data server”.

All Computer systems that are to use the inspHire software will need to be on the same network as the data server.

The inspHire Software is then installed on each local computer system (or Terminal Services/Citrix) which connects and uses the data and shared files/folders on the data server.

The inspHire Software can only be installed onto a Microsoft Windows based environment.

Data Server Minimum Requirements

  • 2.0Ghz Dual-Core/Quad-Core Processor (min)

  • 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM (min)

  • 50 GB available hard disk space
    Please consider additional hard drive space for database backups, document archiving etc. The more space, the better.

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or later
    A Server version of Windows is preferred for use as the data server where possible.

    Microsoft Exchange Server can be installed on the same server but it is advised that all procedures are followed to limit its potential usage to avoid the server becoming unresponsive when the additional resource load of SQL server is also installed.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or Later
    We can install the latest compatible version of Microsoft SQL Server using an Express licence where required.

  • An internet connection with remote access enabled
    inspHire will require remote access to this computer system for the initial installation, setup and continued support/assistance after.

    A direct remote desktop connection is the preferred method, the use of virtual private network connections (using third party software or not) is viable.

Please ensure that the computer system to be used as the data server has all the latest available windows updates and has since been restarted for these updates to have taken effect. This will help ensure as seamless an initial install as possible.

Terminal Server/Citrix (if applicable) – Will support approximately 20 concurrent users:

  • 2.0Ghz Dual-Core/Quad-Core Processor (min)

  • 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM (min)

  • 20 GB available hard disk space

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or later

In order to connect to the main “Data Server” Microsoft SQL Server Native client will need to be installed on each Terminal Server/Citrix Server. Without this the two machines cannot communicate.

If users are wishing to use any of inspHire Software export to Excel functionality, Microsoft Excel itself will need to also be installed on each Terminal Server. No other type of spreadsheet software is compatible (such as Libre Office, Open Office).

Local System Minimum Requirements

  • 2 gigahertz (GHz) dual-core or faster processor

  • 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM

  • 10 GB available hard disk space

  • Windows 7 Home Premium or later

  • .Net Framework 3.5, 4.0 & 4.5
    These are Microsoft Windows updates that are either enabled or separately installed.

In order to connect to the main “Data Server” Microsoft SQL Server Native client will need to be installed on each local client machine. Without this the two machines cannot communicate.

If users are wishing to use any of inspHire Software export to Excel functionality, Microsoft Excel itself will need to also be installed on each local client machine. No other type of spreadsheet software is compatible (such as Libre Office, Open Office).

Web Based Products

The following inspHire products all use web services that will have the below requirements which will need to be on either the data server or one other machine (These requirements are not for each individual computer system).

  • Dashboards

  • IX

  • Mobile Touch

  • CRM
    Only if interlinking inspHire CRM with inspHire Software.

  • Accounts Linking Tool
    The accounts linking tool is only required for connecting inspHire Software to some accounts solutions, these include but are not exclusive to Navision, Access Dimensions, QuickBooks, SAP.

Requirements

  • IIS 7 or Later (with IIS 6 compatibility enabled)
    This is a Windows feature that can be added through Windows programs and features for client versions of Windows, or through the addition of Roles for a Server version of Windows.

  • ASP .Net Framework 3.5 & 4.5 These are Windows feature that can be added through Windows programs and features for client versions of Windows, or through the addition of Roles for a Server version of Windows. Depending on the version of Windows this may require these to be downloaded and installed separately.

  • Web Deploy
    This is a Microsoft plugin that can be downloaded and installed once IIS is installed and running.

These Web based products will have a web service put in place using IIS on one machine (usually the data server), this then hosts the web service (in essence a web site) that is used for the interaction and communication of that product.

At first these sites will only be accessible on your internal network, for these to be accessible outside of your internal network (able to see from home or whilst out on the road) would require obtaining an external site address and having this configured/setup to then forward requests to the site created. This would be a task carried out by those that look after your IT infrastructure.
