The OnRent Software requires an initial installation and setup onto a computer system that will host the data used by the OnRent system(s), along with shared files/documents. This machine would be acting as a “data server”.
All Computer systems that are to use the OnRent software will need to be on the same network as the data server.
The OnRent Software is then installed on each local computer system (or Terminal Services/Citrix) which connects and uses the data and shared files/folders on the data server.
The OnRent Software can only be installed onto a Microsoft Windows based environment.

Server architecture
Whilst the examples above depict multiple servers, the OnRent One platform can run from a single server if required. This can have an impact on performance and should therefore be discussed with the klipboard team before taking on this approach.
SQL server version
A licenced version of SQL server is required in some circumstances where use case would exceed the allowances provided on the express version. The required version should be discussed with the klipboard team in advance if unsure.
Database backups
A dedicated tool known as data manager is installed as part of the product installation. This creates backups to a local network location. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure this backup is transferred externally to a remote location to protect against malicious attacks or local device failure.
Multi depot
It is recommended that remote desktop services, virtual desktops or other similar alternatives are used for multi depot environments. VPN’s can be utilised however this can introduce performance issues due to network latency.
Microsoft web deploy (3.5)
This Microsoft plugin for IIS is required for web-based services to be installed.
Microsoft ASP .NET framework
This is a Microsoft feature that is enabled as a feature/role on the operating system / server/ Depending on the Windows operating system in use, a separate installation may be required and is the responsibility of the customer.
